What HMRC Government Gateway changes mean for Sage 50 customers

February 14, 2018

In August 2017, HMRC introduced a new service that, on Wednesday 14 February 2018, will entirely replace the current Electronic Data Interchange channel. This may have an effect on how some Sage 50 customers can submit their data to HMRC.

Accounts

Customers using Sage 50 Cloud Accounts v24 or above, and customers using Sage 50 Accounts v24 or above are already compliant with the gateway changes. This means that customers using these versions can continue to make online submissions from their software as normal after 14th February.

However customers using the following versions will not be able to make submissions directly from their software after 14th February:

  • Sage 50 Cloud accounts
  • Sage 50 Accounts
  • Sage Instant Accounts v23 and below

In order to be able to access the function to make submissions directly from their software, customers on these older versions must upgrade. However, they can still make submissions manually through the HMRC website.

Payroll

Customers using the latest version of Sage payroll are already compliant with the gateway changes. However, customers operating v23 need to install an update to ensure returns can be submitted. If you have not yet had the update installed, please visit www.sage.co.uk/payrollupdates or contact your Sage Business Partner.
